CURRIC/VIOLIN

In the Fall of 2015, the Cleveland community has the honor to host an exhibit of violins that survived the Holocaust.  This one session lesson is built around the quote from Elie Wiesel, "Hope is like peace, it is not a gift from God.  It is a gift we can only give to each other." Thus, with the Holocauset as their focus, students working with this learning guide will consider:

* the meaning of hope

* the ways in which hope gets passed from one person to another, and

* the importance of hope in the face of oppression

This lesson provides students with the background to enter the Violins of Hope exhibit with basic understandings, as well as curiosity about these violins that survived a very dark period of history.

There are 4 downloadable parts to Violins of Hope: Curriculum Guide, Station Information, Class Cards, and Exhibit Cards.
